Our youth track club exists to empower the next generation through the sport of running. When athletes face mental health problems, their performance may decline, and they may even drop out of their sport. To support athletes' mental health, parents and coaches should maintain open communication and encourage athletes to reach out for help. Teaching healthy coping skills and addressing unrealistic beliefs can also be beneficial. Encouraging athletes to have interests outside of their sport helps prevent their identity from being solely tied to performance. Word choices should be mindful, focusing on effort rather than placing excessive pressure. If needed, professional mental health support should be sought to diagnose and treat clinical conditions and provide necessary coping and stress management skills.
We've added a nutritional life coach to our youth track and field club to further support the holistic development of our young athletes. Understanding the crucial role that nutrition plays in athletic performance and overall well-being, we have brought in an expert to educate our members on the importance of fueling their bodies properly. By offering guidance on healthy eating habits, meal planning, and understanding the impact of food choices, we aim to help our athletes optimize their performance, boost their energy levels, and establish lifelong habits that promote long-term health. With the support of our nutritional life coach, our young athletes will not only excel on the track but also develop a strong foundation for a healthy and balanced lifestyle.
